12 tunes that will help you choosing your wedding first dance song

What song are you going to choose for your first dance as Mr & Mrs?

Decisions, Decisions.

Apart from worrying to trip on your partner’s feet you have some other tough problem to think about: your first dance song choice.

Music really is playing a major part on your wedding: during the ceremony, first dance, father-daughter dance first song to fill up the dance-floor, so you want to pick the right tracks to set the mood throughout the day.

Maybe you’re feeling a bit nervous and emotional, thinking all eyes are going to be on you two, but all I can choose with your heart and you’ll love this moment forever, promise!

With such great tunes out there, from all times, choosing the right one for your wedding first dance seems almost harder than finding your wedding dress.

Well, you want to find one that has a meaning to you as couple, maybe the song that was playing when you met, or the one that when reminds you of a memorable time in your story, or that just simply feels like it has that perfect vibe for you two.

Some couples want a conventional choice, while others love the idea of a non-traditional one.

If you are one of those couples that are helpless romantic, you should look at some timeless, soulful tunes, that will make you want to hug each other and and sway every time you listen to it again after your wedding day.

If you just feel like this choice was just a little too sappy for you, then maybe something more upbeat it’s right up your street.

A song that will have the rest of your wedding guests wanting to get up and rock out too on the dance-floor!

Otherwise a song that defines your relationship or reminds you of a particular occasion, like your first holiday together, or a gig you’ve been to.

Do you still need help finding first dance songs that you and your partner will love? Take a look at some of my favourites!

“At Last” - by Etta James.

This is my always favourite within the older classics, just timeless and makes me dream whenever I hear it (and a crowd-pleaser too).

“1+1” -  by Beyoncè.

I hear you not a classic, but I love a good song for a first dance! Because it’s romantic and also a little sexy it’s definitely a tune..” And it's me and you
That's all we'll have when the world is through”

“Thinking Out Loud” - by Ed Sheeran.

I mean no wonder why this song is one the current favourites: he played it at his own wedding. It’s about true love and being together forever with a modern twist.

“All of Me” John Legend.

He dedicated it to his wife, which he so in love with..isn’t this just the ultimate couple goal?

And basically doubles up as Vows Exchange.

“If I ain’t got you” - by Alicia Keys.

Modern and classic , the lyrics are clearly all about the essence of love.

“I can’t help falling in love with you” - by Elvis Presley.

What a perfect old-school feel timeless track for an unexpected first dance. Simple, sometimes works for the best.

“A Thousand Years” - by Christina Perri

So popular that it has now officially taken over the podium as “the” first dance modern song.

“Falling like Stars” - by James Arthur.

Super romantic with truly lovely lyrics.

Those words couldn’t be more perfect for a newly married couple.

“Happy” – by Pharrell.

Is there any better song to dance on your beginning of your happily ever after?

“No one” – by Alicia Keys.

Yes I confess..I’m a huge Alicia’s fan but she has so many great songs right? How to choose just one?

“Video Games”Lana Del Rey.

Only For the couples that want go out out…but it’s honestly a hymn to being deeply in love

“I tell you all the time, heaven is a place on earth with you”.

“Your Song” - by Ellie Goulding.

Last but not least this song was chosen as Will and Kate’s first dance song: it’s actually a modern twist to a classic Elton John cover.

www.robertaplansyourday.com

Are  you looking for unique invitations for your big day? Interview with the successful Bespoke Wedding Stationary brand Verygraphy.

I'm always researching lush details and intrigued by all the aspects that can make a wedding unique, when I create a wedding design concept.

So I decided to interview one of my favourite calligraphy designers for her beautiful wedding invitations ( and other memorable events), to find out how she develops concepts for her clients bespoke wedding stationary suites.

1. Where do you mostly find your inspiration?

On a daily basis, I’m constantly inspired by the world around me: I may explore designs or colour palette within nature, flowers, the colours of the sky, from fashion, fabrics.

Sometimes I find it when I look at paintings, or ancient decorations and vintage objects but also from modern design minimalism.

If we are open to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us, everything can inspire us.

Craft paper texture, calligraphy, watercolour design, silk ribbons and sealing wax seals are certainly sought-after trends for wedding stationary suite this season.

stamp and olive leaves

Pastel shades, such as sage green, powder pink, teal/cerulean blue (especially for envelopes), as well as silk ribbons, are this season hottest trends.

When matched with some strong burst of colour, they can give a luxurious touch to your bespoke wedding stationary.

shades are  so lavish!

The sealing wax is a stunning touch, applied to any powder shades or striking gold or silver.

Finishing off your wedding guests details in calligraphy gives the envelopes a very classy look.

I usually suggest couples to use an ink colour that complements the envelope shade, but more intense, or   matching it with the sealing wax : it looks so luscious and it create a focus point!

Adding flowers or leaves to envelopes and escort cards,
I feel it really gives it a
natural elegant look, trendy and classic at the same time.

Couples who wish to have their bespoke wedding stationary,
have a wide range of possibilities to customise it in as many details details as they wish.

3. Are the materials you use eco-friendly?

The craft papers I use are often produced by small companies, from Italy and other countries, that use recycled cotton rags.

In addition, among the range of paper that I use, there are some made out of fruit and vegetable scraps and they may contain seeds, that you can sow your invitation after the wedding and give it new life!

4. What do you like most about your job?

I love the relationship I create with the couple, creating the wedding stationary they have envisioned is a wonderful experience and it’s exciting to design a beautiful journey together.

Every project is always different from previous one and this constantly leads me to imagine new combinations, new decorations, new styles to make their dreams come true.

The moment that makes me happiest is definitely seeing the smile and the sparkle of emotion in their eyes on delivery!

5. What design did you love creating the most?

I confess it is hard to answer this question, because when creating bespoke wedding stationery suites every single project feels unique, different from previous ones and exciting, and I love every single design đź’•.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE DESTINATION WEDDING VENUE OF YOUR DREAMS WITH A BESPOKE WEDDING PLANNER ADVICE

Destination Weddings Are Hotter Than Ever...

Over 70 % of the enquiries I get are from couples want to get married abroad.

Why? Maybe it’s that exciting feeling that you get when you know you’ve just landed somewhere exotic, where people speak a different language, and everything has a different vibe.

It just comes naturally to think that an experience, holiday or wedding, is going to be a memorable one.

With the right info, deciding on a destination wedding venue is uncomplicated and easily done.

Factors to take into consideration:

    • Decide what your budget is going to be. Keep in mind all the different factors that contribute to the overall cost of your wedding: venue hire, number of guests, catering, production, flowers, travelling costs, accommodation, bridal gown, groom attire, planner etc.

  • The size of the wedding guestlist you would like to have. This is entirely up to you as a couple: for some people is extremely important to be surrounded by all your family and friends on your big day; others prefer to have an intimate affair, an elopement with only the closest people with you on your special destination wedding, and maybe a big party once you return to your home country.

Key points: how far your guests will have to travel? Will the venue location affect how many people will be able to attend? Is it a venue easy to access for people that have limited mobility?

  • What’s your wedding setting going to be like for both your ceremony and reception? exotic beach, seaside villa, historic castle, chic countryside mansion?  Maybe the opulence of a luxury hotel with a magnificent panoramic view it’s just right for you, or perhaps a secluded castle on a hilltop.

  •   In what season would you like your wedding to happen? This factor is very important in choosing your type of venue.

If warm weather and outstanding outdoor scenery are all things that appeal to you, then you should definitely get married in the Summertime and go for a stunning venue with a fabulous background, making the most of longer daylight time and warm nights.

In case you’re worrying about rain on your special day, most wedding venues would have an indoor option, that are just as stunning, and that serve for weddings during colder months. You could discuss your plan B with your wedding planner.

If you’d like to tie the knot during cooler months, you have just as many indoors destination wedding venues options, and can really have fun with dĂ©cor, installations and production.

  • What type of holiday destination do you usually feel drawn to? Choosing a type of location where you’d see yourself on holiday will not leave you disappointed. It’s significant whether you’re planning to have a black-tie affair or a more relaxed type of wedding.

  •   Do not forget to look at accommodation options, for you, and your guests. If not in the same venue or resort, it’s useful to have a    location with rooms or other hotels nearby, for a stress-free experience. And, why not, who doesn’t love a post-wedding brunch round the corner the next day;

Your guests are going to be there mainly for your wedding, but they are likely to squeeze in a few extra days before and after the big day.
